Working on your article in the editor
Checked against the app on .
The editor is where you read, change and approve your article. It works like a normal text editor: click into the text and type. Everything you change is saved by itself a couple of seconds after you stop typing, and a small “Saved” note in the toolbar confirms it. There is no Save button to remember.
The toolbar
Above the text: undo and redo, heading level, bold, italic, underline, bulleted and numbered lists, a link button, and a button to insert an image placeholder where your cursor is.
Rewrite is the one to know. Select a sentence or a paragraph, click Rewrite, and choose Fix this, Rephrase, Shorten, Expand or Simplify, or type your own instruction such as “make this more direct”. The new text streams in over the selection; Ctrl+Z undoes it if you prefer the original.
On the right of the toolbar are the Keywords and Quality buttons, which open the two side panels, and small coloured markers that appear only when something needs attention, for example when the main keyword is missing from the headline, when there is no headline or more than one, or when a placeholder is still in the text. Click a marker and the editor scrolls to the spot.
The Keywords panel
Lists the search terms the article was written for, in two groups: secondary keywords and long-tail keywords. Each row shows whether the article covers it and how many more mentions it needs. Hover a row to see where cpywrk suggests placing it.
The Quality panel
Click “Run quality check” and the article is scored on search readiness, how well it follows your brief, and your brand voice. The panel then shows two lists:
- Document criteria: rules the article passes or fails, each with a Locate link to the passage concerned.
- Passages to fix: specific sentences with a suggested replacement. Click Apply to accept a suggestion, Dismiss to ignore it, Undo to reverse an applied one.
A letter grade appears on the Quality button. Re-run the check after you have made changes.
The same panel has a Sources section listing every link in the article and whether it still works. A link that is dead, or that now redirects somewhere else, is flagged with a Locate button to find it and a “Remove link” option. Links can be checked once the text is approved and the links have been added.
Images
Image placeholders sit in the text as small chips, numbered in order. Open one to see the description of the intended image and its alt text. For each placeholder you can:
- generate the image, if image generation is part of your plan;
- use your own picture instead: paste an image address or upload a file (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB);
- remove the placeholder.
The Images section below the article lets you generate all pending images at once, generate any one of them again, and edit the alt text. Product photos from your own catalogue are used where an article features a product. To add an image somewhere new, place the cursor in a paragraph and click the placeholder button in the toolbar.
Placeholders in the text
Sometimes the article contains an amber chip where a fact only you can supply belongs, for example a price, a date or a product name. Click the chip to read what is needed, then type the real information over it. A red marker in the toolbar counts how many are left and disappears when they are all filled. You can still publish with placeholders left, but the review box will list them.
Your business facts
If the article uses none of the facts cpywrk knows about your business, from your website, your uploaded documents or your standing rules, an amber marker says so and shows how many facts were available. Articles grounded in your own knowledge do better in search, so cpywrk will not publish until at least one is used. Add one from your material in the relevant section; the marker clears as you type.
Approving
The bar at the bottom offers two buttons.
- Add Visuals locks the text and adds links and images, then runs a quality check. While that happens the editor is read-only, a banner says what is being done and roughly how long it takes, and you can leave the page; an email tells you when it is ready.
- Approve & Publish approves the article as it is.
Before approval goes through, a “Review before publishing” box may list things to fix or to acknowledge: a placeholder left in, a link that could not be reached, more than one main heading, a word count outside the target, or a formatting rule such as a long dash in the text. Each has a Locate button. Fix the item, or tick Noted where the box allows it, then confirm.
Versions and history
The bookmark button in the top bar saves a named version, for example “Before client review”. The History button shows the article’s stages and saved versions, and lets you go back to one.
Downloading
Download as Word or Markdown from the article’s page, reached through the “Articles” link at the top of the editor.
