Clinical research, written so any shopper can follow it

Paul Goje makes clinical research readable for a living. With cpywrk behind him, he brought that craft to two of his clients, in their voice and to his standards.

Paper-craft city. A writer at a desk sits between a tall stack of research papers and skincare products and one clean, simple page, joined by a glowing thread.

Where he started

Paul is a freelance copywriter who specialises in e-commerce copywriting for beauty and wellness brands, a field where every claim has to be right and every sentence still has to sell. His clients sell products backed by clinical research. The science is what sells them, and it is also what loses the reader: nobody buys from a page they need a biology degree to follow.

His client Kaothar Fakayode said it plainly in a note on one of his drafts: “even a 10-year-old should be able to read and understand it.” Paul took the note as a challenge worth building his process around: keep the research working in the background, and put clear, simple language in front of the reader.

What he set up

Neither client’s website was connected, so cpywrk learned each brand from Paul. He described how each client sounds and who they speak to, set the house rules he always writes by, and started every piece with a short brief. Where a claim needed backing, he brought in an expert source.

What won him over was that cpywrk set out to understand each brand before writing a word: the who, the what, the why and the how. “Kudos to that,” as he put it.

How he worked

Paul did his editing up front, at the brief, before any writing started. The first brief came back strong, and he still pushed it, the way a seasoned copywriter would: a sharper picture of who each piece was for, subheadings that invite the reader in, fewer em dashes. On one post he rewrote the subheadings in his own words.

From there, a few small tweaks made each draft his own. And what he taught it stuck: each new piece for the same client needed less steering. cpywrk did the heavy lifting, and the judgement stayed his.

What came back

Every piece kept the science and still read easily, in the client’s voice and with Paul’s touch. One post opens with “That first sip of iced coffee hits like a jolt,” under a subheading Paul wrote himself: “What That Iced Latte Sting Really Means.”

And where a page needed something only the client could give, like a real customer review, cpywrk left a space and flagged it for Paul instead of making one up.

In his words

“The brief creation workflow was smooth and stress-free, with very little friction compared to standard copy generators.”
